RATIONALE
GROUP WORK
With group work students are able to cooperatively learn. I have attached a lesson sample and a student sample response of a group that analyzed a sonnet by Shakespeare, an Elizabethan poet, in order to deconstruct or understand the basic elements of sonnets after a lecture and power point. This demonstration defined elements of Sonnets sonnet history.
After the power point, groups were created. These groups interacted positively because of the structured assignment. With careful monitoring during group instruction, groups actively engaged and discussed Shakespeare sonnets. Students were motivated to complete the assignment due to this advanced understanding and group motivation.
