Rationale
According to many studies, students need choice in assignments to support their intellectual, social, and personal development. I created a survey for students that asked students brief questions about motivation for studying reading and language and used these ideas as suggestions for lesson planning for my action research project. I have included the results from the survey above and have used and plan to continue to use these ideas for engaging students.
Attached:
I implemented a Utopia project that had students explore what an ideal society would be like so they could compare their own society against other students' utopias and the dystopia in The Hunger Games. Students could use choice and guide their own learning with this group project. I have included a student presentation for the utopia project.
